Cartography demands patience, persistence, and a steady hand. Cartography means walking around an area for hours, possibly days, and maybe even in hostile territory, making sure that what you've put down on paper matches well with the environment you're trying your hardest to map. A good map needs to be clean, clear on what it's trying to tell you, and have an easy to translate legend. Bits and pieces of your map shouldn't be crowded together; everything should be well spaced, but at the same time it has to fit in the area of your paper.
