Kuiha Falls

Excerpt From A Ranger Journal

==----------> Moon 7, Day 14, Yuri 34 <----------==

Today I once again passed the town of Kuiha with my pathfinders. It seems every time we come by this town it has dug itself into some hole and needs our help to get out of it, even if they don't realize it. Last time we came by here, they had a huge influx of little critters like rabbits and squirrels because they nearly killed their Gray Wolf population, selling the furs for fine profit. Let's see what they did this time..

==----------> Moon 7, Day 23, Yuri 34 <----------==

We spent over a week fixing their latest ordeal; they tried to expand eastwards, right into the habitat of several snakes and rats, driving them from their home. And they wondered why suddenly snakes and rats were appearing all through the town. Ha!

The locals only made problems worse by, instead of trying to move them back into where the shop was being built (they had to scrap it), they tried to kill them off instead. We stopped them, but one of our own got a good punch in the face when he got into a screaming match with a rather large smith about it.

==----------> Moon 12, Day 43, Yuri 34 <----------==

The Yuri is almost over, and we just finished visiting our friends who live in the eastern kingdoms. A nice bunch, but now we're moving and trying to decide the route we'll take this year. We'll probably take a northwest route to go back to our tribe, probably arriving sometime in the second or third moon. Of course, we're debating whether or not we want to visit Kuiha on the way, as a full route takes about six moons.

We've decided not to drop by Kuiha this year.

==----------> Moon 7, Day 2, Yuri 38 <----------==

I do believe Kashka is the funniest person I've ever met. He tried to mount his horse, but scared it; it reeled back and he rolled down the back and got his face filled with grass.

Only you could pull that off, Kashka.

Regardless, this year's route is different, due to Gorrath becoming our new pathfinder master (rest in peace, Theran). We're going to stop by Kuiha, which we haven't done for... four or five Yuris, I think. We should arrive within the week.

==----------> Moon 7, Day 33, Yuri 38 <----------==

We got held up helping a band of traveling merchants protect their supplies from bandits. I think we did pretty well. No losses (for us anyways, the bandits lost six men). I killed one of them, a real accurate shot; I didn't believe it was that perfect. I only meant to injure him, disable his shoulder... got more than I bargained for though.

But onto the second bit of big news: We arrived in Kuiha today. Well, we arrived in the space that was Kuiha. Well, it still is Kuiha, only... it's abandoned. When we arrived, the town was empty, and animals were running wild through it. The houses are empty, or filled with rats, snakes, wolves, or some other animals. We haven't found any skeletons, so we're assuming their problems just got too big and they moved. The funny thing is, we're all betting they forgot about what effects their actions had on the wildlife. What idiots...

We took some supplies that were still good, and have continued on our journey. Kashka has fashioned the old side of a house into a shield. Such a strange person, isn't he? I expect word of Kuiha's fall must have spread- perhaps people will take our purpose more seriously now. I guess you really need to experience firsthand how bad it can get.

Despite this, next stop: XiYan Port.
