Camouflage: Social

Social Camouflage

How do you camouflage yourself from society?

It's a complex art, but one mastered by a few diligent Rangers. I myself have never mastered the art of Social Camouflage, as I am very prominent in these lands. Guides and our Elder are also unable to practice this form of camouflage, as they have very important, open jobs in these lands.

The clearest definition of Social Camouflage I can give you is to hide yourself from those you don't want contact with. You use a variety of techniques to ensure you are seen by only the people you want to be seen by. Many people do this not because they are hated, but simply as outcasts. Many rangers see that they are not accepted with open arms in all of the kingdoms, and would like to hide themselves.

The main way to do this is to look at what other, bland and normal people do, and copy it. You don't want to be a stand up kind of person, you are aiming for the average peasant. You study the average person, more than one person to get an idea, and apply the traits you find into your own actions. If people begin normally saying "Ahoy" instead of "Hello," then you would probably adopt "Ahoy" to blend in.

Not only in the traits of the people are there Social Camouflage must-haves. The dress of a person is a major test on who they are as well. If you see someone holding the Chaos Blade, you're bound to want to know more about this person, right? Now look at a person holding a wooden saber. Would you really regard this person as out of the ordinary? If you aim for what the majority of people are, you'll have much better results than someone who aims to be the next big thing in the kingdoms while still attempting Social Camouflage.

Lastly, and the most dramatic effect that will make or break your camouflage is your attitude. Your mental feelings about it. If you can't hold your tongue at some royal festival, where some noble just insulted your mother, then you will have major trouble with social camouflage. Completely close your mind to personal thoughts, and success will follow.
